Most residential properties receive automated waste pickup two days each week. Place your green waste cart at the curb by 7 a.m. on your pickup day.

Curbside recycling service is provided to single-family homes in service areas within participating cities. Information on the County's requirements for businesses, apartments and condominiums is available.

A permit is required for anyone in the business of solid waste collection or recyclable materials collection, removal or transport for hire or salvage over the streets or public right-of-way in Miami-Dade County. Permitted private haulers can learn more about the Disposal Facility Fee Area and Disposal Facility Fee requirements here.

This permit is required if a landscaper wants to access the Neighborhood Trash and Recycling Centers for disposal of clean yard trash or obtain a discounted rates for clean yard trash at any Solid Waste Management disposal facility.

A Waste Tire Generator Permit is required for anyone principally or partially engaged in the selling, trading or otherwise transferring of new, used or waste tires. A Waste Tire Hauler Permit is required for any person transporting 5 or more waste tires for hire within Miami-Dade County.

About Us

Solid Waste Management provides waste collection and recycling services to unincorporated Miami-Dade County and the cities of Aventura, Cutler Bay, Doral, Miami Gardens, Miami Lakes, Opa-locka, Palmetto Bay, Pinecrest, Sunny Isles Beach and Sweetwater. Curbside recycling services are also provided to the following cities that have inter-local agreements with Miami-Dade County: El Portal, Florida City, Medley, Miami Beach, Miami Springs, North Bay Village, South Miami, Virginia Gardens and West Miami.

Waste collection is provided twice each week and recycling every other week. Customers can schedule two bulky waste pickups each calendar year and have access to 13 Neighborhood Trash and Recycling Centers and two Home Chemical Collection Centers.

Solid Waste Management owns and operates three landfills and three Regional Transfer Stations for waste disposal and owns the Resources Recovery Facility where waste is converted into energy that is used to power the plant and exported to the power grid.

Permits for general haulers, landscapers and tire generators are also issued as part of the services.

Other responsibilities under Chapter 15 of the Miami-Dade County Code include issuing warnings and citations for waste-related code violations. 

Solid Waste Management also provides countywide mosquito prevention and control services.
