Peace & Prosperity Empowerment through Education Scholarship

The Peace & Prosperity Empowerment through Education Scholarship is a component of the Miami-Dade County Community Violence Intervention Initiative that supports college-bound young adults who are directly or indirectly impacted by gun violence achieve their higher education goals.

The Office of Neighborhood Safety, a division in the Community Action and Human Services Department of Miami-Dade County, will award 75 scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each.
 
Who Can Apply
Applications are available to Miami-Dade County residents who are current high school seniors, graduating by Aug. 1, and entering an accredited college or university in Fall 2025.

Only one scholarship application will be accepted per applicant. Submitting multiple applications or an incomplete application may result in disqualification.  

Timeline

Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on March 23.

Requirements
If selected for a Peace & Prosperity Empowerment through Education Scholarship award, the following documents must be submitted to the Office of Neighborhood Safety within 10 days of notice:

  • Proof of Miami-Dade County residency
  • Final high school transcript
  • Proof of college or university acceptance or admittance
  • Fall 2025 college/university class schedule

Other Guidelines

  • Applicants are encouraged to apply to all scholarship opportunities offered by the Community Action and Human Services Department; however, an applicant may only receive one scholarship per school year from the Department
  • Only one Peace & Prosperity Empowerment through Education scholarship application will be accepted per applicant. Submitting multiple applications or an incomplete application may result in disqualification
  • Communication about application status and award notifications will be sent via email to the email address provided by the applicant
  • If awarded a scholarship, payments will not be issued until all supporting documents have been received and verified, including the official fall schedule
  • It is the applicant’s responsibility to inform ONS at scholarship@miamidade.gov of any mailing address changes
