Intern at Juvenile Services

Gain valuable training in social work, psychology, criminal justice, public administration, public policy and statistics. All interns receive training.

Our staff includes licensed mental health professionals, and those with Masters Degrees in Business Administration, Public Administration and Social Work.

You may be able to receive college credit for interning.

You can intern for four, eight or 12 months.

- Currently enrolled in school
- Case Management:
  Assist staff with clients to improve basic skills and supervising community services and attending outreach activities
- Intake:
  Assist staff with the screening process
- Outreach Services:
  Serve as a mentor and assist with job development in the boutique
The Miami-Dade County Youth Commission was created by County Ordinance in 2011 as part of the vision of Commissioner Barbara J. Jordan, District 1. Its purpose is to provide young people with a vehicle to participate in the process of County government. Motivated students from each Commission district represent and articulate the needs of youth in Miami-Dade and advise the Mayor and Board of County Commissioners on matters affecting the youth population.

Qualifications

The members of the Youth Commission must meet the following qualifications:
- Be between 15 – 18 years of age at the time of appointment
- Be in the 10 – 12th
- Minimum 2.0 GPA
- Demonstrate a sincere interest in and the motivation to work for the community
- Have a background in community-based activities
- Must complete an interview process
The commission was established for one sole purpose: to let your voice be heard. Be active, get involved and participate.
