Apply for a County Police Job

All applicants:

• Must be a United States citizen at time of application.
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. An evaluation of foreign high school diploma may be required.
• Must be able to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays.
• Will be subject to an extensive background check.
• Must not have been convicted of any felony. All candidates must not have been convicted of any perjury or a false statement charge as an adult. All other arrests and convictions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
• If ever arrested, candidates must submit an official court disposition at a later time. Official court dispositions can be obtained from the Clerk of the Court in the county in which the incident occurred.
• Must possess and maintain throughout employment, a valid driver's license without any restrictions affecting job performance. Out-of-state participants shall be required to obtain a Florida driver's license upon acceptance of employment. Driver's license must show current address.

To work for the Miami-Dade Police Department you do not have to reside in Miami-Dade County. However, employees who wish to take advantage of the Police Patrol Vehicle Program (PPVP) must live in Miami-Dade, Broward, or Palm Beach County.

County policy provides that employees enrolled in accredited educational institutions may be reimbursed for 50 percent of tuition costs, for approved coursework which will enable them to improve their performance in their current positions and prepare them for increased responsibilities. The Miami-Dade Police Department encourages our employees to take advantage of this upon completing their probation.
