Discrimination

Employment discrimination means that you are being treated unfairly by your employer based on the protected classes listed below. If you feel you have been discriminated against in your workplace, you must immediately report it to your department’s Fair Employment Practices Liaison (FEPL) or contact Human Rights and Fair Employment Practices.

It is a violation of County policy to make employment decisions on the basis of any of the following protected classes:

  • Domestic violence, dating violence and/or stalking
  • Ethnicity
  • Gender
  • Gender identity
  • Gender expression
  • Marital status
  • Familial status
  • National origin
  • Pregnancy
  • Race
  • Religion
  • Sexual orientation

  • Harassment, including sexual harassment
  • Hiring and termination
  • Promotions
  • Compensation
  • Disciplinary actions
  • Training/career development
  • Attendance and leave
  • Work schedule/break times
  • Work assignment
  • Work location assignments
  • Terms and conditions of employment
