Stop Interfering!

The Board of County Commissioners approved a resolution urging the Florida Legislature to enact legislation repealing Chapter 2021-214, Laws of Florida – House Bill (HB) 735, which preempted the licensing of occupations to the state and prohibited local governments from imposing additional licensing requirements or modifying licensing unless expressly authorized by State Law, or in the alternative, to enact further legislation addressing certain concerns and potential negative consequences from Chapter 2021-214.

Prevent Veteran Suicide

The Board of County Commissioners approved a resolution to adopt the Florida Legislature’s Senate Memorial 302 and House Memorial 63 or similar legislation, urging the United States Congress to recognize the epidemic of suicide among veterans; fully fund suicide prevention efforts by the United States Department of Veteran Affairs; and urging the United States Congress to fully fund the United States Department of Veterans Affairs suicide prevention efforts.


The Board of County Commissioners approved a resolution sponsored by Commissioner Joe Martinez supporting Senate Bill (SB) 246, House Bill (HB) 85, or similar legislation that exempts the sale of diapers and incontinence products from the sales and use tax, and urging the Florida Legislature to include similar language in the tax package.
